Essentia Health-Deer River adds MRI scanner to enhance patient care

Essentia Health-Deer River is pleased to announce the arrival of a new mobile MRI unit that delivers the latest in MRI technology to better serve the needs of our patients in Deer River and the surrounding communities.

The new fully equipped mobile unit offers high-speed, high-quality MRI imaging with an emphasis on patient comfort. It includes an immersive patient experience designed to help improve comfort while helping clinicians obtain accurate results to determine the best care options for patients.

“The MRI is a critical tool in our ability to properly diagnose and treat a variety of health issues and injuries,” said Abram Latvala, diagnostic imaging supervisor at Essentia Health-Deer River. “This state-of-the-art MRI system delivers outstanding image quality to provide critical diagnostic information for physicians and their patients in Deer River and our neighboring communities.”

A traditional MRI experience can be a challenge for some patients, and inconclusive image quality due to patient motion can result in poor image quality and repeat exams. This new unit provides superb image quality while performing MRI exams up to 50% faster with a touchless guided patient setup and a larger opening for a more comfortable experience.

“By adding this unit in Deer River, we are following through on our mission to bring care close to home for the patients we are privileged to serve,” said Latvala. “This cuts down on transportation and adds a convenient option for patients in the area without needing to travel for a high level of care.”
