NURSING AT ESSENTIA
Overview
Our nursing excellence is built on a professional practice model that focuses on the patient, family, and community. This commitment is strengthened by a culture that values teamwork, clear communication, diversity, inclusion, and professional growth. We also support nurses in making meaningful changes to patient care and the work environment through professional governance.
Essentia Health nurses are involved in discovering, applying, and sharing new medical solutions and innovative care models. They lead and participate in evidence-based nursing practices that ensure safe, high-quality patient care.
Essentia nurses take on many roles, including:
- Caring Healer: Essentia nurses provide compassionate care that addresses the mind, body, and spiritual needs of patients using evidence-based best practices.
- Teacher: Essentia nurses educate patients, families, and communities about health.
- Navigator: Nurses guide and advocate for patients and families through their healthcare journey, coordinating care with our interprofessional teams. They work to improve processes, anticipate complications, and handle unexpected challenges.
- Leader: Essentia nurses lead in various areas of the organization. Their leadership is shown through their actions and commitment to a quality and safety-driven workplace, always striving for excellence.
Our nurses are dedicated to providing excellent patient care through teamwork, education, advocacy, and leadership.
Nursing Excellence
Essentia Health nurses are leading the global transformation of nursing to enhance patient care for everyone, everywhere. Essentia is currently working to achieve Magnet® at four of our hospitals. Magnet Designation is the highest level of honor awarded by American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and is recognized nationally as the “gold standard” that a health care organization can attain.
Achieving Magnet designation requires navigation through a rigorous process requiring participation of nursing as well as the inter-professional care team.
Achieving Magnet designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) provides recognition of nursing excellence, a commitment to safe, quality patient care through professional nursing practice, inter-professional collaborations, research, and innovations in nursing.
Essentia Health nurses offer skilled nursing services to their local communities in hospitals, clinics, long-term care facilities, and patient homes across Minnesota, North Dakota, and Wisconsin. They care for patients in many different specialty areas.
