Student Placements & Internships

If you’re a student or resident, looking for a clinical placement or internship, Essentia Health can help you. To be eligible for a clinical placement or internship at Essentia, you must be a student enrolled at an accredited academic program that requires the placement or internship experience.

Clinical Placement Process

Ask your program’s placement coordinator to email [email protected], to explore opportunities that may be right for you.

All clinical placements at Essentia Health are coordinated through our health science and medical education office. Do not directly contact our physicians or staff to request a placement or internship.

PT & OT Observation Hours

If you need observation hours for application to a physical therapy (PT) or occupational therapy (OT) program, fill out and submit a volunteer application.

Job Shadows

Essentia offers job shadow opportunities to those interested in exploring a career in healthcare. Job shadows are observation-only experiences and are typically up to 16 hours. If you are looking for a longer experience, please consider volunteering or employment. We offer many opportunities that are part-time, flexible, and great for exploring healthcare careers.

The first step to request a job shadow experience is to set up a free account in Clinician Nexus. Once your account is created, you can apply for a job shadow using the following links:

Once your application and all required documents are submitted, we will reach out to confirm next steps.

Student Projects
