The Human Research Protection Program (HRPP) protects the rights and welfare of human research participants at Essentia Health.

HRPP Structure

The HRPP is a collaboration of offices and departments throughout Essentia.

Essentia Health Institutional Review Board (IRB)

As part of the HRPP, the Essentia Health IRB reviews all proposed research to protect the rights and welfare of participants. The IRB is independent and does not report to any department or individuals that rely on the IRB review of their research.

External IRBs

Essentia Health interacts with several external IRBs. The Essentia Health IRB plays an active role in monitoring external IRB-approved protocols at Essentia Health, addressing concerns from the perspective of the Essentia Health patient/participant population.
