Facility Overview

Visit the St. Joseph's Rehabilitation Center in Brainerd, Minnesota, for adult outpatient therapy. Our physical, occupational, and speech-language therapists work together to help you get results. We also have certified hand therapists and lymphedema therapists on site.You’ll find us on the lower level of the Essentia Health St. Joseph's-Orthopedics Clinic. We’re an outpatient department of Essentia Health-St. Joseph’s Medical Center, which is two miles north of us. As one of Essentia Health’s Catholic facilities, we strive to provide holistic healing for all human life.

Parkinson's Rehab Programs

Since Parkinson’s is a progressive, degenerative condition, maintaining the strength of one’s voice can be a challenge. Essentia offers a two-part therapy program designed to strengthen the muscles used for speaking and swallowing and to teach patients how to speak with intent and deliberation.SPEAK OUT!® is a highly effective speech therapy program for individuals with Parkinson's disease. The program typically consists of 12 individual therapy sessions conducted by a speech pathologist. Together, the patient and the speech pathologist work their way through a series of speech, voice, and cognitive exercises outlined in a comprehensive workbook.Upon completion of SPEAK OUT!®, patients enter a maintenance phase called LOUD Crowd® that provides on-going vocal practice as well as support and encouragement.This two-part rehab program is offered at no cost to patients thanks to support from the Essentia Health-St. Joseph's Foundation.
