Essentia Health-St. Mary’s Medical Center has provided pediatric hospital services for years. Later, we created spaces dedicated to children within our hospital.
2004 | A dedicated pediatric hospital—the Essentia Health-St. Mary’s Children’s Hospital—opens within St. Mary’s Medical Center. This includes a pediatric inpatient unit, pediatric intensive care unit, newborn intensive care unit, and pediatric emergency room.
2013 | The neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) for newborns is remodeled. This unit includes 18 private rooms (unless demand is high) that have a locker, closet, refrigerator for breast milk, and couch that converts to a bed.
2014 | The Ronald McDonald room is added to the NICU.
2016 | The new solarium provides a dedicated lounge and gaming space for teens at the hospital.
