Your First Visit
Expect dedicated, approachable specialty care when you visit Essentia for pediatric gastroenterology. Our doctors will take the time to get to know your child and their history before doing a complete exam.
After a diagnosis is made, they will talk with you and your child about treatment options which may include medications and/or at-home therapies. We only recommend procedures as a last resort.
Endoscopies & Colonoscopies
Your child may need an endoscopy or colonoscopy to diagnose or treat their condition. Rest assured, our pediatric gastroenterologists take a gentle, skilled approach.
With an endoscopy, a tiny scope with a camera is guided down the throat. With a colonoscopy, a tiny scope with a camera is directed through the rectum and colon.
During the procedure, anesthesia or sedation will be used to help your child relax or sleep. After the procedure, your gastroenterologist and primary care doctor will follow up with you.
