Quality of Care

Feel confident that you’ll receive high-quality, cost-effective care and have a great patient experience at Essentia Health.

Protecting Your Health

Essentia will make your safety and well-being our top priority. We aim to give you the best possible outcome and patient experience by preventing infection and other harm whenever possible. See how we work together to protect you and your family:

  • Culture of safety – All employees are encouraged to speak up and “stop the line” any time they see a safety concern or believe something is unclear
  • Daily safety huddles – Staff meet daily to discuss and quickly resolve safety concerns
  • Hand hygiene practices – We train all providers and staff to properly clean their hands to help prevent the spread of germs
  • Required influenza vaccinations – We require employees, students, volunteers, and vendors to get a flu shot every year to reduce risk of spreading the virus at our facilities

Quality Measures & Reports

Check how well health care facilities in your community provide recommended care by reviewing quality measures and performance standards. Rest assured, we pay close attention to this data and are always working to improve.

Explore Minnesota HealthScores to compare the quality and cost of care in Minnesota and neighboring areas. Or, find national data from The Joint Commission Quality Check®.

Accountable Care Organization

An ACO is a group of hospitals, doctors, and other care providers who work together to give coordinated, high-quality care at a low cost. That means patients—especially those with chronic conditions—are more likely to get the right care at the right time, and avoid unnecessary services.

It’s a clear sign that we strive to provide great care, an excellent patient experience, and low costs by:

  • Protecting patient rights, including privacy
  • Offering easy access to health care
  • Having a solid foundation of patient-centered primary care
  • Using care coordination to manage patient populations
  • Monitoring practice patterns and using performance data to improve quality
