Compensation and Benefits

The internship year begins the second Monday in August and ends twelve months later. The yearly stipend for interns is $38,500. As employees, interns are eligible to participate in health, dental, life, and disability insurance programs.  They also receive up to $1000 for training activities, seven paid holidays, 80 hours of paid time off, and an additional five days of time away for educational activities including dissertation defense or studying for testing.

Interns are afforded the same resources available to other behavioral health providers at Essentia. Services are typically provided in a private office, although in some settings shared spaces or exam rooms are utilized. Patient Access Representatives manage interns’ patient schedules and contacts. The department maintains a paper and virtual library of resources related to psychological testing and intervention. Some testing is completed using the Q-interactive iPad-based platform; interns will be provided with the use of iPads for testing. Essentia Health maintains an extensive academic library; interns can borrow items from the library and use databases as well as librarian services for professional development activities. Essentia uses Epic for patient related documentation; interns can take optimization training to learn to customize their use of the electronic medical record.
