Dr. Gabrielle Hester, MD, MS, is a board-certified pediatric hospitalist. She earned her undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Wisconsin in Madison, WI. She completed her residency training at the Primary Children's Hospital - Salt Lake City, in Salt Lake City, UT. Dr. Hester also did fellowship training in pediatric hospital medicine at the University of Utah, where she earned a Masters of Science in Clinical Investigation and completed the Advanced Training Program through Intermountain Healthcare. Dr. Hester is board certified in pediatrics, and pediatric hospital medicine.
Dr. Hester worked as a pediatric hospitalist and leader in quality improvement at Children's Minnesota for 10 years before moving to Duluth, MN, with her family. She received the National American Academy of Pediatrics Section on Hospital Medicine Quality and Safety Award in 2023 for her work in creating a program for evidence-based guidelines at Children's Minnesota. That same year, Dr. Hester received the annual Teaching Award from the University of Minnesota Pediatrics residency program.
Dr. Hester is an adjunct professor at the University of Minnesota and helps coach medical students during their clinical training years. She is also part of the American Academy of Pediatrics Acute and Critical Care Network Steering Committee, which works on using evidence-based practices to reduce unnecessary resource use for hospitalized patients.
Dr. Hester is interested in clinical guideline development, patient safety, health equity, measles, croup, Kawasaki Disease, and managing medically complex patients.
