Insurance Coverage

Balance Billing (Surprise Billing)
You are protected from balance billing (sometimes called surprise billing) when:
- You get emergency care, or
- You are treated by an out-of-network provider at an in-network hospital or ambulatory surgical center.

Essentia Health Billing & Collections Policy
Essentia Health will promptly and accurately submit health insurance claims and/or work with you to establish a reasonable payment plan for any portion of a bill you’re expected to pay. If you don’t submit a Financial Assistance Program application, make a reasonable payment agreement, or meet your financial responsibilities, collection activities will occur.
